Casa Rex has done it again. For the second consecutive year, the design firm has been awarded by Core77, a global design directory. In the inaugural competition of 2011, the design consultancy was selected for the packaging design developed for Skip Perfect Black/ Skip Perfect White for Unilever in Argentina. This year the visual identity created for the fine fragrances and cosmetics company, Valeur Absolue, has been credited with a “Professional Notable” award in the Visual Communication category.

In accordance with the company’s objectives of invigorating the current fine fragrances market, Casa Rex has portrayed a visual identity that is derived from an unusual context: “We’ve created a graphic representation that integrates realistic elements from the cosmetic universe — a leaf and a flower — in an unrealistic setting. This highlights the main message and intrigues the viewer,” says Gustavo Piqueira, head of the design consultancy, who was also the creative director of the graphic design, together with Samia Jacintho.

Judged determined the visual identity is “sophisticated, elegant, and mysterious—perfect combination of qualities for a cosmetic brand.” The project developed by Casa Rex for Valeur Absolue will soon be published in the Core77 Awards Gallery and can already be seen here.
